Farewell to our Queen West Studios – July 1st

After 8 years on Queen St. West, we have decided it’s time to move and expand our flagship studio location.  We are designing an inspiring and empowering workspace on the 2nd floor of The Foundery Buildings!  This new studio location allows us to work in closer collaboration with the CB Gallery, and with our networked community of Foundery members at 376 Bathurst Street.  We are also building a new rooftop patio!

We’re excited about the move (taking place July 1st) but we won’t be officially launching the new studio space until the fall of 2014.  Follow us on facebook and twitter for renovation photos and updates over the summer.  If you would like to explore the new studios before the launch, or if you’d like to reserve a studio space this fall, book your tour today!  These sunny new spaces won’t last long…

101 Vagina Exhibition: Toronto, June 14th – 22nd

Creative Blueprint is proud to bring Philip Werner’s 101 Vagina exhibition to Toronto.

101 Vagina is about breaking down the taboo around vaginas and body image shame generally.  It confronts the lies we are told about what’s normal and celebrates our uniqueness and diversity.  101 Vagina is also about the sharing of story, of experience; the passing down of knowledge and wisdom.

The exhibition is captured in a book that contains 101 beautiful black and white photos of 101 women, along with a message, story or poem written by each woman to accompany their photo.  The messages are candid and span the spectrum of emotions.  They are raw and honest and form a small compendium of women’s experiences with their bodies and womanhood in general, with a focus on the vagina.

The exhibition runs June 14th – June 22nd 2014 in the CB Gallery.
Gallery Hours: Open 12:00pm – 6:00pm daily

376 Bathurst Street, Toronto, ON

Xpace 10th Anniversary: Origin Story – June 12th

10YRxpace
In celebration of Xpace Cultural Centre’s 10-year anniversary, we participate in a conversation about the origins of Xpace. Join us as we discuss how and why Xpace was created, as well as look back at Xpace’s first year.
Moderated by Xpace Director Amber Landgraff, the discussion features Creative Blueprint founder Ashley Proctor.

Xpace Cultural Centre is a membership driven artist-run centre supported by the OCAD Student Union and dedicated to providing emerging and student artists with the opportunity to showcase their work in a professional setting. Xpace programs contemporary practices that respond to the interests and needs of our membership, and to contemporary issues in theory and aesthetics, keeping an up to the minute response to what is going on directly in our community.

The founders of Xpace recognized that there was a gap in professional exhibition opportunities available to student and emerging artists. Xpace was created in order to fill that gap by providing exhibition opportunities, the possibility of project fees and critical feedback for these artists. Many institutions and funding bodies do not recognize students and emerging artists as professionals, which makes it incredibly difficult to have the opportunity to show and/or fund their practice. 10 years after it’s inception, Xpace still plays an integral role in providing these opportunities, which are crucial for the development of a professional practice, in order to fill that gap.
